Dont worry glen I have the same problem with both 81 kdx and 91 kdx both run the same shifter but the 91 I did modify it to suit me as it was short and put an oversize bolt in it to stop it slipping but it still does and they are sh!t. have seen them in the states but not sure if they are the alloy or steel as some of them just put up pics of them which might not be the shifter you are getting. I know on the 250 kdx 81 to 84 they have a straight shifter as was going to pull one of micks bikes in my shed and try it just haven't got around to it yet. but if you do find something could you let me know as I need 2 of them

Well I fixed it ! A 1990 yz250 alloy shifter bolted on nicely , avoiding the stator cover by a good 10mm ,
No more dilemma`s Wink

ps- kx125,250,500 will also fit from 80 to 93 their all 11mm spline...

yer mine was a bit loose on the kdx 200 (91) so gave it a bit on a nip and bang broken bolt but I pulled the one off my klx 250 (04) and it just misses all the right spots so still good to go on the weekend
cheers tony
