Tenth digit of the frame number = L = 1990 model.

To confirm:
'90 & 91 were the only models with the bolt-on alloy plates to the top shock mount.

Further give-away is the 41mm USD forks which were 90/91 (and non-US-market '89). The colour of the upper legs is also a hint: silver for 89, champagne for 90, and I think blue for 91.

Not a guru - definitely one of those things where the more you learn, the more you realise you don't know.

Half my knowledge is left-over from being a busted-arse teenager who read every issue of ADB and Dirt Bike fifteen times.
The other half is from being a tight-arse adult who has bought lots of the bikes he lusted after all those years ago, and now has to get/keep them running without going broke...

I do not intend to die with any mechanical/technical 'secrets'. Afro
