Sounds like a 1974 MX100/125/175A.

MX125 is twin-shock, steel fuel tank, steel wheel rims. I think the prefix is 401.

The MX175A is a rare bike. Big difference between it and the MX125A is that the 175 has alloy mud-catcher rims (plus the 171cc barrel, of course).

The 100A is easily spotted by having a 19" front wheel, steel lower fork tubes and a cush-drive rear hub.

Next most likely option is YZ125X. Monoshock, alloy tank, air cannisters on top of the forks. Alloy rims. Exhaust crosses over the top of the motor (from left to right). 1G8 prefix.

The 1976 MX125C is a RARE bike. 565 prefix. Easily spotted by it's lay-down rear shocks, and steel tank with the filler cap offset to the right.

Could also be a repainted YZ100, YZ125C, DT100/125/175.

Cheers Nathan, its def not the YZ, its a twin shox with the pissy reservoirs so most prob a mx 125.
Will check its not the 175 and dont think it has the offset cap (bugger)
