Hi all,
Does anybody have much info on these early 250's? I have a comparo test from 1984 but nothing much else. My bike is an 85 but can't see any changes from an 83 model. Is my headlight correct? It is an Australian bike with a compliance plate.
Thanks, Grahame.

Sorry no help here.........but they are one of the better looking bikes from the period especially with those side number plates  and yours is a very clean example.  Cool

They look to have been more or less the same from 1983 onwards. The headlight on yours looks bigger than the pic of an '83 I was looking at (see below), but maybe it was different for Aussie ADR models than overseas versions.

Seat graphics say that its an 84 model. By the blurb suggests that its thefirst of the alloy swing arm models, which I thought was '83?

Graham, the headlight in Tex' photo is the one I was trying to describe.
Your's is from an 89~94 KDX200.

AFAIK, all of the Aussie KDX250s came with the round headlight. Tex' headlight is usually known as the "US headlight" and came here on 83 and 86 KDX200s (ie: Non-ADR bikes).

There was a 83 KDX250 in Australia.
I also have a KDX200 B1 brochure with blinkers and large rectangle headlight, different to the photo Tex has shown. There are vents under the light and  it looks exactly the same as the 84 KLR600 and 85 KLR250 headlight as i am looking at those 2 brochures now too. I would say its a large glass halogen light. I would also say this KX200 B1 brochure is 84 or 85 as it looks the same style as the KDX250 brochure i posted above. i will scan it tomorrow.

I would really like a 84 KDX 250 but put a KX disc front end (from pre 85 model). That would be a real good bike then, Mono shock, disc and air cooled motor. I would also change the shock for a Ohlins or White Power and dress up with 80's accessories.

Found a pic of the KDX200 ADR headlight i was talking about

Hi, Thanks for all the info. My bike has a 1/ 85 date on the compliance plate. Blue seat seems to be an 85 model. What I need to know is whether this will ever be a Vinduro problem. Is the follow on rule cast in stone? Does it apply to this bike? Has anyone got a correct headlight or know where to get one?
Thanks Nathan, I love the MX100.
Cheers, Grahame.
